In 1980, I responded to the national crisis, enrolled the Military Academy and as a first year cadet, I went to combat to fight against the uprising terrorism.
In 1984, I became an Officer in El Salvador's Army during the long and violent conflict. Before my graduation, I had received 2 medals for being wounded in action and 1 for valor.
In 1992, after signing the peace agreement between the Salvadorian government and the terrorists, I left the military knowing that the mission had been accomplished.
I relocated to the US with only $272.00. For the first two years, I worked in landscaping, construction, door-to-door sales, mechanics and car sales.
In 1994, I became a drill sergeant in a juvenile boot camp. I received the Commander's Award of Excellence, an award given to those whose devotion to duty was their trademark. During my Juvenile Justice career (just over 11 years) I was promoted 9 times.
Unfortunately, in 2004 and 2005, as a facility director, I experienced two consecutive lay-offs. I was offered positions that could bring the executive status back; however a new dream had been birthed in my heart that would put me in a position to influence many people.
In 2005, after declining every job offer, I opened MAXIMIZEBIZ, a leadership development consultant company. In 2007 a new element was added: Public Speaking.
In 2011, I became a Founding Parter for The John Maxwell Team. Now, I speak to thousands every year.
