Every day, I strive to meet John Maxwell’s definition of a leader as someone “who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” I am a founding partner of John C. Maxwell’s Training Company and a facilitator for his book/course “Developing the Leader Within You.” As a national authority on leadership and character, I am often called upon to speak to groups around the U.S. on the subject, in a personal, authentic and “straight- from-the-heart” manner.
For more than two decades, I have coached thousands of children and adults in character, discipline, and leadership skills. It has been my experience that the U.S. is suffering a real epidemic in the lack of "character-driven" leadership role models. Learning these leadership skills can help improve the quality of life for you, your family, and company.
I am an entrepreneur, CEO and president of Deutsch’s Inc., in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The corporation includes Deutsch’s Gymnastics Training Center, and the Leadership Management Development Center (LMDC). These two businesses teach character, discipline, integrity and leadership skills. I am pleased that the gymnastics training center could be used as a vehicle to develop these life-long skills in children. As a coach of USA gymnastics teams, a number of my students have won state and national championships and other medals under intense pressure.
In the technical world, I grew a one-person computer repair business in 1991 into a 10-person, full-service networks and Internet security company with annual revenues of more than $1 million. In 2002, my team won the Barron County Small Business Model of the Year award and I was honored as the Wisconsin Small Businessman of the Year.
A retired Air Force Officer, I served the U.S. on active duty for eight years. In the late 1980s, I was the Air Force maintenance chief for Turkey, leading 1,200 people in managing electronics and communications equipment throughout the country.
