Achieving my first black belt was the culmination of a LOT of hard work. It took dedication, training and a “don’t quit” attitude to get to where I am today, holding black belts in multiple disciplines and training hundreds of students and instructors to be leaders in life, here in the U.S. the Caribbean and Central America.
One of the things I’m passionate is about instilling those “black belt” qualities into the lives of others. As a speaker, coach and trainer, whether I’m working with individuals, families, non-profits or corporations, I seek to instill “black belt excellence” in three key areas:
Number One: Communication. Helping people understand their unique communication style and how effectively communicate with others, be it at home, school, work or in community, is mission critical to the success of any organization. Becoming a black belt in effective communication is a “must do” if you really want to accomplish great things in life.
Number Two: Leadership. Anyone can lead, in fact everyone is leading someone, sometime, but not everyone leads well. To me, being a “black belt” in leadership means first learning to lead yourself, then your family. From there, it stretches into leading at work and in your community.
Number Three: Attitude. According to a Real Life Management study, 85% of Americans are broke, 67% are obese and 56% of all marriages end in divorce. Attitude, or what Zig Ziglar called “Stinkin’ Thinking”, is at the heart of these societal problems. Not only is this hurting families, it's affecting your workplace, your church, or your volunteer organization, hurting productivity, dmaging relationships and limiting your effectiveness.
Developing “black belt excellence” in communication, leadership and attitude can lead to thinner waistlines, fatter wallets and better relationships – and make you, your family, and your organization more effective at what it does.
