JIM STUART PROFILE
Jim Stuart was born on August 27th, 1957 in Brandon Manitoba. He grew up in Brandon, attending school and college there. Jim and his wife Jacquie of 39 years have 4 children. Three girls, one boy and they are blessed with one granddaughter.
In 1977, Jim he left college and began a management training program with FWW Woolworth’s. In 1980 he was transferred to Winnipeg. He furthered his retail career with companies such as Macleod Stedman’s, Zellers, SIR Sports Warehouse in Winnipeg, Brandon and various small rural towns. In 1985 Jim Started JimJacq and associates with his wife. This was a business consulting company that specialized in retail operations and marketing.
Upon leaving college Jim set a goal for himself that by the age of 30 he would either be working corporately in a head office or owning his own business. Jim reached that goal and at the age of 29 he and his wife purchased a MacLeod’s Hardware Store in Melville Saskatchewan. Constantly upgrading his skills Jim has attended several management training programs provided by corporate retailers. At the age of 35 he participated in an Accounting Technical program to upgrade his computer skills, and also completed 2 Levels of Certified General Accountants curriculum.
Jim has been a retail specialist for 39 years. Jim participated in numerous roles such as management, entrepreneurship, and consulting. Retail has been a passion in Jim’s life and continues to be. I have He has always said retail has the capabilities of showing immediate results and can be measured for success in many ways. Retail can be very satisfying and rewarding and has been a huge part of Jim’s life. He has held various titles in retail including District manager, Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Team Leader, Zone Manager, Consultant, and Owner. He also held a CEO position on contract to Triple R Community Futures, a none profit economic development agency.
Understanding the buying decisions and current trends is a knowledge that many seek and find out it is always revolving, and changing. Jim has taken the lead with many teams, and has tasted success in both the private and corporate worlds. The love of merchandising, marketing, sales, and leadership has been a huge focus of during Jim’s career. He loves to teach almost as much as he loves to continually learn. The science of retail is as fascinating for Jim today as it was when he was a 12 year old kid working behind a cash register after school in his mom and dad’s corner grocery and confectionary store in Brandon.
Today Jim manages a retail concept called TimberFalls Store and Auto Spa that consists of several different retail commodities and services. It has been written up and featured in 3 North American Retail Industry Magazines because of its unique structure and design. Jim has a young team of managers and leaders and continues to teach and train daily the values and basics of leadership and growth. Jim has seen the growth in this young team and considers them one of the best management teams he has worked with. Jim sees most people his age winding down their careers but he however is taking a different approach. Instead he is ramping up energy for a new and exciting phase in his business and personal life!
Jim was fortunate that the ownership of TimberFalls invested a great deal in him in regards to sending him to Dale Carnegie to complete a management and communications path of learning. It was here that he discovered a renewed passion for knowledge and was introduced to John Maxwell and his philosophy of leadership. He joined the John Maxwell Team in 2015 and has gained great growth in leadership skills and life. He has used mastermind groups with his team leaders to teach leadership and growth as well as personal coaching with some of them. Jim plans on attending the John Maxwell Team live certification event in Aug. of 2016.
With the teachings and resources of this wonderful program Jim intends on launching a new business. The Finishative Leadership Advantage Group will be involved in coaching, training and mentoring tomorrow’s leaders. He is thrilled with being able to serve people, give them value, and help them achieve true growth in Leadership and Life. As John Maxwell teaches, everything rises and falls on leadership.
Jim also likes to be involved with the community. He has been on the executives of Chamber of Commerce’s. He has also served on the executives of Sporting associations.
Jim plays golf, loves to go RVing and camping, and cherishes time with family. Church and Christian values have become a very big and important part of his life. His family is very important to him. He is very proud of all of the accomplishments they have had as they grow into adulthood.
