From an early age, my entrepreneur father taught me to DEFINE my goals and BECOME the person I needed to be so that I could progressively ACHIEVE my purpose. This formula propelled me to the U.S. Naval Academy, and service as a Marine Corps officer. Subsequently, I pursued a 25-year career advising government officials on creating and delivering value to the public through information technology. As I grew as a leader, it was my privilege to add value to individuals and organizations—at work, home, church, and scouting—through coaching and mentoring. An employer introduced me to the John Maxwell philosophy. Hearing John say, “My purpose is to add value to others,” resonated with me, and gave voice to my personal purpose. I became a disciple. When John offered the opportunity to partner with him, it was a natural fit.
